Thanks for Voting Triangle Green Cleaning Best of the Triangle . . . Again!

Wow! For the fourth time in five years, the readers of Independent Weekly have voted Triangle Green Cleaning the Best House Cleaning Service in the Triangle. As I let that sink in, my mind immediately flashes back to the summer of 2007, when my wife, Amy, and I launched the company.
We knew we wanted to do something special—use all-natural products to help people in the Triangle live cleaner, healthier lives—but we never imagined that our company would grow into one of the Triangle’s favorite companies. Perhaps we would have been able to see this future growth if we had only been able to recognize the faces of all of the people who would be working with us and making our success possible in 2014.
When I think of Triangle Green Cleaning, I think of a company that does business the right way, centered on our customers and what they need. And I don’t necessarily attribute that to my own leadership—we owe a great deal of our success to our people. Derek Owen, now president of the company, is a homegrown leader in every sense. We knew early in his career that he was very special. He’s the kind of guy who rises to every occasion and leads by example. Derek has done every job there is to do in this company; and he leads Triangle Green Cleaning to new levels of excellence every day.
While Derek plays a pivotal role in the day-to-day management and in setting the vision for Triangle Green Cleaning’s future, he can’t lead this company alone. Shea Ruffin and Brenda Stewart, our two senior managers, approach their work without ever compromising their positive attitudes and responsiveness to our customers. Their personal style, based on kindness and respect for others, is contagious. Brenda ensures all aspects of the office run smoothly, while as general manager, Shea sets a standard of accountability for all of our field-based employees.
Speaking of those field-based employees, they do some pretty incredible work. We set a pretty high bar around here, through our services checklist, which sets customer expectations for each visit. I am amazed at how our people don’t manage their work to these minimums, but rather how they really get to know our customers and take true ownership of a job consistently well-done, cleaning after cleaning. That’s precisely why our company earns recognition year after year, due to our people never accepting yesterday’s effort for today’s best work.
On the verge of our seventh anniversary this September, I am honored to say we employ 25 people. That’s Derek, Shea, and Brenda, as well as 10 cleaning crews—enough people to ensure that up to 40 homeowners are happy with a great cleaning every day. I’m honored and humbled by the growth that our customers have bestowed upon us in such a short amount of time, and I’m so thankful that my employees have received this award yet again.
